DIGITAL MUSIC PRODUCTION
ARTS, MEDIA, & ENTERTAINMENT

What is it?
Digital music production is the process of creating, composing, recording, mixing, and editing music using digital audio workstations and special software. Music producers use digital music production to create music for movies, television, video games, and websites to help create the mood. Digital music production offers more precise editing options than traditional methods, and the equipment typically is more affordable and requires less maintenance than analog equipment.
IS IT RIGHT FOR
ME?
Do you have an ear for sound and music?
Are you creative and like to work with technology?
Are you collaborative and like motivating other people?
What will I do?
A digital music producer uses recording technology to create music for use in other media, and is responsible for both the creative and technical aspects of the production. They use audio engineering skills to mix and fine-tune the sound, removing unwanted noise. They work with musicians and other creatives to create a unified vision for the project. Often they will use software to create unique sounds using virtual instruments.
