Joyce Nishikawa

With over three decades of dedicated service in education, Mrs. Nishikawa is a highly experienced and passionate educator within the Inglewood Unified School District. She began her impactful career in the district as an instructional aide for four years before transitioning to a teaching role, where she has profoundly shaped student lives for 30 years, with 29 of those years spent at Bennett-Kew P-8 Leadership Academy of Excellence.
Mrs. Nishikawa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University, Long Beach, and furthered her expertise with a Master of Arts and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Her commitment to innovative teaching is evident in her Google and Adobe Certification, as well as her three years of dedicated support for CTE (Career Technical Education) programs at Bennett-Kew. She believes early exposure to CTE in the K-8 setting helps students build essential academic and transferable technical skills that play an integral role in the overall academic experience and contribute to improved academic success.
Inspired by her attendance at the AME Conference, and embracing the profound wisdom of Harriet Tubman, "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world," Mrs. Nishikawa is driven by a strong desire to broaden students' horizons by exposing them to diverse career possibilities and seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology into her teaching practices. Her extensive background and forward-thinking approach make her a cornerstone of educational excellence.
